An ongoing series of shorts celebrating the absurdist thoughts and life of it’s Illustrator, myself.
In the coming year I am taking part in a Diploma in Professional Studies, part of this will be focusing on taking my own practise to the next level with my self-initiated projects.
One self-initiated project I aim to take into the next year is based on some of my recent work, MILROY’S COMICS. My newest work is a surreal and comedic comic strip about myself and my experiences. This would allow me to grow and experiment and develop my skills in the graphic novel format, and I would also think about how I want to publish, whether that be physical or digital.

At this stage I am mostly thinking of publishing the work online, possibly use it to build a following on social media, but there would also be opportunities to publish the works on platforms like Webtoon which specifically host online comics, this would likely be better for gaining a following.
At the end of the year it may be possible to publish this work and have it sold in indie comics shops like 'Gosh Comics' as a collection book akin to a 'Calvin and Hobbes' collection.

The value would be to build up a bank of comics that show my artistic stylings, humour and skill in the graphic novel format outside of any briefings by others. Creating a portfolio of the work I want to be paid to be doing.
Since we are in the early developments of this project I feel there are many posibilities and pathways for these comics to go in, who I could work with and what I can create. Right now my focus is on building up a portfolio of these comcis and to push myself to try new things within the medium.
MILROY’S COMICS is my self-initiated project to take my practise to the next level and begin to treat my work and myself as professionally as it deserves. I’m so enthusiastic about what I’m creating here, I can feel myself learning new things everyday about visual storytelling, writing, and gaphic novels and I can’t wait to take the strip to the next level.
